If you are wondering about the Y's Men organization, here is a thumb-nail description.

The Y's Men of Westport/Weston is an organization of about 400 retired and semi-retired men.  It is the largest group of its kind in Fairfield County.  The diversity of members' professional backgrounds include former key executives of major corporations, computer experts, business, media, and public relations executives, airline pilots, market and research specialists, government officials, artists, musicians, and your "common man".

Every week, on Thursday, from September to May members can attend a meeting and hear prominent individuals share their experiences.  The speakers include corporate executives, national and state legislators, media executives, financial, legal, and medical professionals, actors, artists, war heroes, and international experts.

The Y's Men participate in a wide variety of activities such as golf, bowling, camera club, tennis, skiing, bridge, chess, singing, investments, sailing, hiking, and table tennis.  Organized trips have taken groups to Europe and throughout the U.S. and other countries.  This past year alone, dozens of couples enjoyed trips to the Bahamas, Spain, Tanglewood, Broadway shows, the Cabaret Theater, a hockey game, and a West Point football game.

The Y's Men also provide volunteers for numerous community programs such as helping the Red Cross, manning the Westport Information Stations, delivering Meals on Wheels to the needy, assisting at Norwalk Hospital, and providing manpower at parades, foot races, etc.

Any retired or semi-retired man in Westport or Weston is invited to join this organization.  For more information call the Membership Chairman, Kurt Rosenfeld at 227-8261 or the Y's Men President Roy Dickinson at 226-0322.
