The Westport Weston Family Y will be conducting tryouts for the Travel Teams. Travel Teams are offered for middle grades 5-8 and play against other area Y and recreation teams. Click here for the Tryout Schedule.

The Family Y is excited to offer children the opportunity to play competitive basketball with members of your grade level. Parents and players considering the Family Y Travel Teams must recognize that they are making a significant time commitment to the program. Travel Team practices begin in mid-October and will be held 2 times per week throughout the basketball season which ends in mid-March. Each team must have at least nine eligible players with a maximum of 12 on a team. If a player develops an absenteeism problem or does not abide by published team rules, she/he may be dismissed from the squad. All Travel Team games are played at a very competitive level. Playing time is earned and based on performance, attitude and effort.

Be advised that Travel Teams are not obligated to "equal playing time." However, each coach is required to play each player in every game. To be eligible for a Westport Weston Family Y Travel Team, the player must be a Westport resident, have written consent of a parent or guardian and a medical form on file, and try out for the appropriate travel team. There will be no exceptions. If selected, the per player fee to participate is $225 for Family Y members or $260 for non members. Players are required to purchase a uniform. The uniform cost will be an additional fee set by the coach. Players selected for the teams must be prepared to pay the participation fee at the Membership Services desk at that time. All coaches are volunteers.
